West Linn — Living here

Welcome to West Linn

Located just 8 miles south of Portland and nestled between the Willamette and Tualatin rivers in Clackamas County is West Linn, where the proximity to Portland provides an easy commute for its nearly 27,000 residents living in this wonderful bedroom community.

West Linn city managers have taken care to maintain wide-open spaces, its natural surroundings, and numerous dedicated parks where residents can picnic among majestic Douglas Fir trees, enjoy summer concerts, or simply enjoy the view.  The Tualatin and Willamette rivers border West Linn and are playgrounds for both water sports and fishing. The distant mountains of the Cascades and Mount Hood offer a variety of winter and summer activities.

West Linn is a mix of old and new

At the southwest end of town is the historic area of Willamette, with Victorian-style homes, old farmhouses, and a number of small shops where some unique treasures can be found. Little Cooperstown sports-themed restaurant offers a family-friendly menu that is a hit with many locals, or visit BJ’s, where you will find great food and a lively bar scene. Allium offers a date night option or check out its happy hour menu. Looking for morning coffee? Visit Bull’s Eye or Willamette Coffee House for a relaxing cup of Joe. Commercial expansion continues in this quaint Willamette community, keeping in the historic feel and offering a mix of retail and office business space.

West Linn offers many close-knit neighborhoods. Perched above the community of Willamette in the southernmost part of town is the Barrington Heights area where lovely homes and expansive mansions overlook the Willamette River. The Cascade Summit area offers a family-friendly neighborhood complete with a pool and community clubhouse.  Plus, it is walking distance to Starbucks!

West Linn is truly a social community and home to a number of festivals, parades, and other annual events. Some of these include a Holiday Parade and Holiday Tree Lighting celebration in December and the Old Time Fair held in the month of July, which is a three-day celebration featuring skydivers, a parade, and an open-air market, and our own Princesses & Queen. Our farmer’s market in Old Willamette’s Historical area runs Sundays May through September, featuring fresh produce, local artists, and music.
